Graves’ disease, also known as toxic diffuse goiter, is an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. It frequently results in and is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism and or an enlarged thyroid. Signs and symptoms of hyperthyroidism may include irritability, muscle weakness, sleeping problems, a fast heartbeat, poor tolerance of heat, diarrhea, and unintentional weight loss. Other symptoms may include thickening of the skin on the shins, known as pretibial myxedema, and eye bulging, a condition caused by Graves’ ophthalmopathy. People with Graves’ are more prone to developing eye problems.
A person with Grave’s disease will need to start with a very small dosage of iodine, perhaps 1 drop daily or even less because initially, iodine will increase activity of the thyroid. Therefore, doctors will typically restrict any form of iodine supplementation.
The problem with that is that Grave’s was probably caused by a deficiency of iodine, which caused the thyroid to become hyperactive in order to utilize whatever small amount a person my derive from iodized salt or from eating meat from an animal that consumed iodized salt.
I have read reports of people who cured themselves of Grave’s by supplementing with a pure form of iodine, like ShopFreeMart PureDine, but starting with minute amounts and gradually increasing intake over an extended period of time. PureDine is pure elemental iodine, in the form that the body needs, so no conversion is necessary, which makes it totally safe for perhaps everyone except for people having Grave’s disease.
Hashimoto’s disease is an underactive thyroid and so there would be less chance of a reaction, but just the same, I would suggest starting our slowly at first for safety’s sake.
A person is more likely to be affected by Grave’s if they have type 1 diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis. Smoking also increases the risk of disease and may worsen eye problems. The disorder results from an antibody, called thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI), that has a similar effect to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). These TSI antibodies cause the thyroid gland to produce excess thyroid hormone.
Toxicity of the thyroid can be from a variety of sources, but due to the fact that Graves’ is an autoimmune disease, it is almost certain that leaky gut syndrome is the root cause of this disease.
Healing the leaky gut is of paramount importance and the two best products that I know of for healing leaky gut is bovine colostrum found in ShopFreeMart Immunize and ShopFreeMart Activate. Another great product for healing the gut is ShopFreeMart Siaga.
To help remove the toxic condition of the thyroid, you need water that is very hydrating. ShopFreeMart Hydration Drops increases water’s ability to hydrate. And then I recommend nano gold like that found in ShopFreeMart PureGold Concentrate to open up the cells so they can release whatever toxins may be found there.
The two minerals that are most closely associated with healthy thyroid function are iodine and copper. Prior to the formulation of our ShopFreeMart PureDine, I told people to buy cheap orange/rust colored iodine like Veterinarians use on animals and apply it to the bottoms of their feet before going to bed. PureDine is by far superior, but applying iodine to the feet was better than nothing.
Potassium iodide tablets is what doctors give their patients. Iodide is different from iodine and must be converted to iodine by iodine symporters in your body. The problem is that most people can’t convert enough to satisfy the body’s daily requirements.
Japanese women used to get an average of 12.5 mg of iodine daily from sea food and seaweed. Some doctors are saying this is the minimum amount of iodine that a person should be getting daily. I personally concur and I take 1 dropper full (one squeeze of the bulb) of ShopFreeMart PureDine daily, which is about 15-18 drops in a small amount of water at meal time. PureDine is acidic and actually improves digestion of your food when taken with meals.
Copper is a companion mineral to iodine and is required for normal thyroid function along with many other bodily functions. I typically take a dropper full of Pure Copper Concentrate 2-3 times per week. You may require more or less, so just experiment to find your best dosage.
Magnesium is also required for thyroid function. ShopFreeMart Pure Mag Concentrate is the best form of magnesium available in the marketplace. Other common symptoms caused by lack of magnesium are muscle spasms, cramps, twitching and pain. All heart conditions can be related to magnesium deficiency and if you suspect a lack of magnesium (which most people have) then take ShopFreeMart Pure Mag Concentrate as part of your regimen for Graves’ as well.
